Philosophy

My approach as a therapist is contingent upon the needs and goals of the client. I value a holistic approach to mental health and I follow the client’s lead in building a path towards developing goals and finding solutions. Empathy, validation, and compassion are fundamental to healing and growth. I strive to ensure that clients feel safe, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, socioeconomic status, disability, or any other status that makes them feel vulnerable to judgment.

I believe it is crucial that clients feel they can express themselves in a way they feel comfortable doing so. My training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) provides my practice with a foundation of structure, but I strongly believe in incorporating an eclectic mix of approaches, depending on how clients find meaning. My role is to empower and facilitate, and focused on resilience and competencies in each and every client. The connection between client and therapist is essential to the success of therapy; I value the importance of building that relationship with clients.
